Who operates Flick It

Flick It is operated by Pat, publishing as TechManPat, in Australia. The service is available internationally. Privacy questions, access requests and deletion requests can be sent to patryk@techmanpat.com.

Guest access

You can create or join a room as a guest without giving us your email address. Flick It uses a randomly generated or chosen display name, your room membership, your private swipes and a device token so the room works and the same result can appear on each participant's phone.

Your guest name, room token, country and selected streaming services may also be kept in your browser so you can continue the room and avoid choosing the same settings again. Clearing your browser data removes this device-local information.

Email accounts

Email sign in is optional. If you choose it, Flick It stores your email address, first name, verification status, sign-in dates, preferred country and selected streaming services. This lets Flick It remember your choices, show your past movie matches and keep films you mark as already seen out of future suggestions.

Flick It does not use passwords. A single-use six-digit code is sent by email and expires after 10 minutes. Email sign-in does not enrol you in marketing.

You receive optional Flick It or TechManPat marketing and feedback emails only when you separately tick the marketing box. The box is unticked by default. Flick It records when and where that consent was given. Every marketing email must identify the sender and include a working unsubscribe link. Withdrawing marketing consent does not affect sign-in codes or essential service messages. Emails are not sold to third parties.

Rooms, swipes and movie history

To run a room, Flick It stores the room code, participant display names, selected country and services, movie deck, private yes or pass choices, the time taken to make a yes choice, any tie-break vote and the shared result. A faster yes is used only as a small tie-breaking signal between movies with the same number of yes votes. Other participants see names and the final result, but they do not see your individual passes.

Signed-in members can see completed movie matches linked to their account. Their previous yes, pass and “seen it already” choices may be used to prioritise movies that a future group is more likely to enjoy. Selected room filters are always applied before this taste ranking. Guest activity is linked to a room and device token rather than an email account and is not used for lasting taste memory.

Basic usage and technical information

Flick It records first-party visit and product analytics such as the landing page, referring site or campaign, browser, device category, approximate country, page views, return visits, room joins, rooms created, rounds started and completed, first swipe, poster readiness, no-match rounds, shared-result delivery, winner-card sharing and streaming-provider clicks. This helps TechManPat understand whether first visits become useful movie nights and optional email accounts. These events do not contain your email address, movie choices, swipe details or raw IP address.

Hosting and security systems may process the requested page, time, browser and device information, approximate region, IP address and operational logs to deliver the service, prevent abuse and diagnose errors. Flick It's own analytics database does not store the raw IP address.

If you use Describe tonight's vibe, the sentence you submit is sent to OpenAI to translate it into movie filters. Flick It does not attach your name, email, room code, private swipes or watch history, and does not store the raw sentence in its own analytics. It records only whether interpretation succeeded and which filter categories were applied.

Service providers and external content

Flick It uses OpenAI Sites and Cloudflare infrastructure for hosting and database services, the OpenAI API for optional vibe interpretation, and Resend to deliver sign-in codes. Movie records and artwork may come from sources such as IMDb, OMDb, TheTVDB and FMDB. Opening a streaming provider link takes you to that provider, which has its own privacy practices.

These providers may process information in countries other than the one where you live, under their own security and privacy arrangements. Flick It shares only what is needed to provide the relevant service.

Cookies and device storage

Flick It uses a secure session cookie for email accounts, a visitor cookie for first-party usage measurement, a short-lived analytics session cookie, and browser storage for guest names, streaming preferences and room access tokens. The analytics session normally expires after 30 minutes of inactivity. These are used to make the product work, understand its performance and remember your choices, not for third-party advertising.

Storage, security and deletion

Account sessions normally last up to 30 days. Room and result records may be retained so signed-in members can view their history and so TechManPat can understand whether the product works. Reasonable safeguards include HTTPS, server-side email credentials, hashed session and room tokens, rate limits and single-use sign-in codes.

You can ask what personal information Flick It holds about you, ask for a correction, or request deletion where it is reasonable and lawful. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to restrict or object to processing, receive a portable copy, withdraw consent, or complain to your local privacy regulator. International use, children and policy changes

Flick It is offered to people in multiple countries. Local privacy, consumer and electronic-marketing laws may give you additional rights. Flick It is a general entertainment tool and is not designed to collect personal information from children. A parent or guardian can contact us if they believe a child has provided personal information.
